Put Your Home Office to Work
Say goodbye to the traditional, formal home office space and hello to rooms that ooze personal style. “I always say ‘you do you’ when it comes to designing a home office,” says Mary Welch Fox Stasik, host of HGTV’s Breaking Bland. “I once threw a disco ball over a desk for inspiration — nothing needs to be off limits!” Ahead, top interior designers share some of their most inspiring and creative office spaces.
Find a Window
Function meets fashion in this niche corner of a bedroom where a Lucite desk under a window provides the perfect well-lit workspace. Stylish accessories include a black and white striped chair, an hourglass-shaped desk lamp and an inspirational Buddha head.
Build Out a Nook
The built-in doubles as a wall, so designer Kira Obermeier created a tucked-away office space. Bonus: it gets tons of natural light, thanks to a floor-to-ceiling window.
Layer Pattern on Pattern
Designer Brenna Morgan turned this traditional home office up a notch. Palms on the matching wallpaper and curtains pop against white wall paneling, a gray desk and black leather wing chairs. A cowhide and beaded ceiling pendant add to the room’s bold feel.

Hide In Style
Anthony Wilder was smart with this sleek design. When open, the rift cut veneer doors reveal office space that includes a desk, wood shelving and work essentials. When closed, they expose an entertainment station featuring glass shelves to hold bar tools and collected art.
Decorate In Twos
Double abstract art draws the eye and brings cool into this otherwise neutral dual work space by Gina Gutierrez. Two wooden desks, curtain-free windows and comfy linen chairs make it cozy.

Add a Color Pop to Monochrome
A simple white desk brightens up this navy home office. To bring contrast to a color scheme, try hanging colorful wall art — this abstract piece is framed in an acrylic shadow box featuring swatches of indigo, magenta and red. An antique gold olive leaf ceiling pendant adds sparkle to the ceiling.
Use Your Favorite Patterns
A brown and white cowhide layered over a seagrass rug coordinates with the print on the chair, while the woven window shades add even more texture to the space.

Blend Traditional and Modern
Take traditional: a plaid print on a loveseat. Then bring the modern: a chic crystal chandelier. Mixing two styles makes for an extra-cozy space. Bonus: Designer Dina Holland covered the coffered ceiling in this home office with wallpaper.
Mix In Metals
Here, Rebecca Johnson included accents of gold, bronze and silver — in the mirror, upholstered chair frame, rug and accessories. These bright moments give life to other neutrals in the room.
Go For a Gallery Wall
An inspirational gallery wall by Beth Diana Smith — featuring quotes, photos and art — brings the chic, while storage bins placed around the floor’s perimeter and a wooden side table provide stylish spaces to stash files and paperwork.

Build a Suave Space
A neutral color palette is key. Here, muddy blue-gray paint covers both the coffered ceiling and the built-ins for a seamless look. To make it moody, designer Reem Hassaballa layered in shades of taupe and caramel with a vintage armchair and diamond-patterned jute rug.
Add Midcentury Charm
Here's how: bold bookshelves and leather furnishings. Here, a marble-topped side table and a chandelier with matte black hourglass shades elevate Erin Coren's office design to oh-so- sleek levels. The two-sided mahogany desk provides storage for office essentials and books.
Spotlight the Ceiling
Paint or wallpaper plus lighting will do the trick. Here, retro-inspired floral wallpaper and a four-globe pendant bring life to the ceiling, while dusty pink-painted trim complements the rugs and desk chair.

Don't Hang Your Art
No room for art on your office shelving? Here's a solution. Designers Kevin ten Brinke and Kalah Talancy opted to display art on the ground — a fun, layered alternative. A white grass cloth desk and a dusty rose-colored pouf add to the casual-cool ambiance.
Bring In Bohemian Touches

Polish With Pattern
Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns. Lively and glam, this energetic office by Kristina Phillips boasts black and white cowhide, striped gray curtain panels, a blue ikat seat cushion and pink and orange block art.
Decorate Floor to Ceiling
Erika Bonnell's design features built-ins decorated with colorful books and clutter-cutting baskets. On the floor: a cozy neutral rug. On the ceiling: a six-globe brass light fixture. In-between: a round maple table, aqua colored ottomans and Lucite chairs.
Style Standout Seating
An eye-catching black and white rattan bistro chair takes center stage in this home office alcove. Behind the etched-glass cabinet doors: storage boxes, books, decorative plates and other knickknacks.
Double Up Desk Space
Work stations abound in this sleek home office: Take a seat at the dovetailed oak desk or the black maple built-in. Designer Dean Turner makes the multi-faceted space modern with a Sputnik-style chandelier and abstract art.
